Byliners

The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications will present the Annual Byliners Awards in February. This dinner and awards program recognizes the accomplishments of women who have made a significant contribution to our community through their professional and volunteer achievements. AWC uses proceeds from Byliners to offer education and resources to members and scholarships to female students pursuing a degree in the communications field.

Bosses’ Breakfast

Each April, members of the Association for Women in Communications host a breakfast to visit with and show their bosses a valid relationship between their membership in AWC and their jobs. Whether the member works for a non-profit organization, a small business or a large corporation, AWC offers the resources and networking opportunities to help the member in her career.

Progress of Women

This September lunch examines the evolving role of women, especially in the workplace. The meeting discusses women’s progress and how women can make personal and professional strides in the future.

Holiday Party

Each December, members and guest meet to enjoy the season and celebrate the friendships and successes of the past year.

Freedom of Information

The Association for Women in Communications was a founding organization of Freedom of Information Oklahoma in 1990. FOI educates the public and elected officials about rights guaranteed by the First Amendment and promotes openness in government. Each year, the January luncheon focuses on Freedom of Information issues that affect communications professionals.
